Hope and Healing -- Starfish Pier

A visit to Irene Hannon's fictional town of Hope Harbor is always filled with faith and hope and characters who are looking for those very things -- whether they know it or not! Starfish Pier, the 6th book in the series, is no exception. The characters in this story are dealing with some pretty heavy issues. The author masterfully develops their stories at just the right pace and with the perfect doses of love, faith, hope and healing to make for a beautiful story.

This entire series is a joy to read. The stories blend together as new people show up in town and interact with characters from previous books. Each story is fine as a stand-alone, but there is a real feeling of continuity and community that comes from reading them all. And of course, there are the constants of Charley, the wise taco man, and his seagull friends.

I have to say that one of my favorite lines in the whole book shows up in the Author's Note at the end:

"Best news of all? There are more books in the queue!"

I don't know how many more visits that means to Hope Harbor, but I look forward to each and every one!

Thanks to Revell Reads for providing a copy of Starfish Pier. I am happy to share my own thoughts in this review.

About the Book

Opposites may attract--but can two very different people find lasting love?

A year ago, ex-Delta Force operator Steven Roark left the rigors of combat behind to run fishing charters in Hope Harbor, decompress, and talk some sense into his kid brother. Business is good--but making peace with his past is more challenging than he expected.

First-grade teacher Holly Miller leads a low-profile existence--until she's recruited to advocate for a cause that's dear to her heart. When she solicits Steven's assistance, sparks fly--especially after they find themselves on opposite sides of an issue that disrupts their placid seaside community.

As these two seemingly incompatible souls wrestle with their differences, might they discover more common ground than they expect--and a future filled with promise?

Come home to Hope Harbor--where hearts heal . . . and love blooms.
